เพื่อนทรยศ

ณ ป่าแห่งหนึ่ง มีสุนัขจิ้งอกและนกอินทรีเป็นเพื่อน บ้านที่ดี ต่อกันโดยนกอินทรีอาศัยอยู่บนต้นไม้ ส่วนสุนัขจิ้งจอกอาศัยอยู่ในโพรง ใต้ต้นไม้นั้น

In the forest, a fox and an eagle were also good  neighbours. While the fox lived in the hole under that tree.

สันัขจิ้งจอกมีลูกหลายตัว ในขณะที่นกอินทรีเองก็ลูกน้อยหลายตัวเช่นกัน วันหนึ่งเมื่อสุนัขจิ้งจอกออกไบหาอาหารให้ลูกๆ ของมัน

The fox had many pups. The eagle too had several birdlings. One day, while the fox went out to look for her pups's food.

นกอินทรีได้แอบบินลงมาขโมยเอาลูกๆ ของสุนัขจิ้งจอกไปไว้ ที่รังของมัน เพราะคิดว่ามันอาศัยอยู่สุงกว่าสุนัขจิ้งจอกคงทำอะไรมันไม่ได้

The eagle flew down to steal the pups and kept them in her nest. Thinking that she lived higher, so the fox could not do her any harm.

สุนัขจิ้งจอกกลับมาและทราบเรื่อง จึงอ้อนวอน ให้นกอินทรีคืนลูกให้ คงไม่ได้หรอกเพราะลูกของเจ้าจะต้องมาเป็นอาหารให้ลูกของข้า เมื่อสุนัขจิ้งจอกพูดขอร้องไม่ด้ผล มันจึงวิ่งไปคว้าท่อนฟืนท่อน หนึ่งที่กำลังติดไฟอยู่

The fox come home and knew what had happened, she begged the eagle to return her pups. I won't give them back. Your pups will be food for my children. Seeing that the request did not work, the fox ran out and brought back a burning firewood.

แล้วนำมาวางบนเศษ ไม้แห้งและกิ่งไม้ที่มันเอามากองสุมไว้ที่ใต้ต้นไม้นั้น นกอินทรีกลัวอันตรายจะเกิดขึ้นกับมันและลูกๆ

She then put the fire on dry leaves and branches that she had piled up under the tree. The eagle saw the danger for herself and her buildings.

มันจึงคืนลูกให้ จากนั้นทั้งสองก็เลิกคบหาเป็นเพื่อนกันนับแต่นั้นมา

She returned the pups, from then on, they were no longer friends.
